The the entry into force of the requirements set by the European Regulation 245/2009 is due to take effect by April 13, 2017.
These requirements involve the increase on Energy Efficiency limits for the ballasts for fluorescent and HID lamps. This fact involves relevant changes both in dimensions and in costs in many references.
From date onwards, ballasts with EEI=A2 or better are the only ones allowed to be placed on the market for the first time.
It is important to point out:
– The Regulation does not limit in any case, the use of any technology used to reach the energy efficiency required. It is then possible to meet the requirements both with electronic and electromagnetic solutions.
– Products of all energy classes can be marketed outside the EU so their production is not prohibited.
– Placing into the market for the first time involves the possibility for traders to sell the products in stock without any restrictions.
